St. Clair Building Center purchased St. Clair Lumber Company from Bobby and Bonnie Pickenpaugh. St. Clair Lumber Company has served the St. Clairsville community for decades and will continue to do so under new ownership.

St. Clair Lumber Company originally opened in 1922. In 1967, after a total loss fire at the original location just down the street, the Pickenpaugh family purchased the current location at 159 South Sugar Street from Loy’s Building Center. Bobby and Bonnie eventually became owners and have operated the St. Clairsville landmark ever since.

Bobby and Bonnie decided to retire and sold the building and land to longtime friends Dominic and Crystal Pietranton. Since 2001, Dominic & Crystal Pietranton have owned and operated Dominic Pietranton Construction. The Pietrantons have reopened the hardware stored after it was completely renovated. They plan to move their construction company to the lower level of the building. The hardware and building product needs for the community, do-it-yourselfers, and contractors are again available. A variety of farm supplies will also be in stock for sale.

St. Clair Building Center’s name was chosen to incorporate the previous companies of Loy’s Building Center and St. Clair Lumber Company. Dominic & Crystal have great respect for both companies and their families. The Pietrantons have the vision to continue to serve the city of St. Clairsville and the surrounding area just as the two previous families did. “This is our town and we look forward to serving the community,” said Dominic Pietranton.

St. Clair Building Center is happy to announce that they have completed numerous upgrades to the building and property. A new state-of-the-art point of sale computer system has been installed for convenient checkout. Cash, check, and credit/debit cards are accepted.

The store opened to the public in October 2022 and a grand opening was held in January 2023. The entire staff at St. Clair Building Center hopes that you come to see the newly renovated store and look forward to seeing you in the future.
